Aims
Our aims at Sheffield Chinese School are to provide educational opportunities and promote the Chinese culture.
development
The Chinese School was first established as a Chinese language class in 1973 by a group of parents for teaching their own children. These classes were held at various venues around the city.
In 1982, the Sheffield Chinese School was officially formed by our Honorary Chairman Mr. T.S. Wong, offering more classes at Myrtle Springs School. In 2001, we moved to King Edward VII School. We now offer both Cantonese and Mandarin lessons.
Over the years, the school has received a lot of help and support from the Sheffield City Council, the Chinese community, friends and parents.

structure
SCS is a sub-group of the Sheffield Chinese Association, focusing mainly on cultural and educational issues.
The school is a Registered Charity under the name of Sheffield Chinese Association. All our activities are run by volunteers. The headteacher, deputy, secretary and treasurer are all responsible for the school's day to day administration. There are more than 30 teachers working on a voluntary basis.

partnership between school and and parents
We understand the importance of partnership between school and parents. Parents are encouraged to make suggestions or raise any concerns to the class teachers or the headteacher. In addition, every parent has the opportunity to discuss and review their child's learning progress on Parents' Day.
cLASSES
The language (both Cantonese and Mandarin) classes range from Year 1 (starting from 4 years old), to GCSE, AS and A2 levels. Adults are also welcome to join our lessons. Currently, there are nearly 200 pupils attending the school.
The combination of the teachers' dedication and hard work, the input of parents and the determination of the pupils have proved extremely successful- with many students achieving excellent grades at GCSE, AS & A2 every year.
